Moreleta Park is one of the larger suburbs located on the eastern side of Pretoria and in addition to its prime location also offers a host of attractions to match.  Like many of Pretoria's suburbs, Moreleta Park is set amongst much greenery with tree-lined streets and homes with lovely, lush gardens while the landscape varies between undulating and flat. 

Originally part of the greater farmland of Garsfontein, a dairy farm was established on the area which is now known as Moreleta Kloof.  Over time a number of structures were erected, which today have taken on a new purpose.  For example, one of the first farmhouses built in the late 1800s now serves as a chapel in Moreleta Park.  Another of these original farmhouses, built in 1903, eventually became the much-acclaimed Rademeyers Restaurant (named after the Rademeyer family who originally owned much of the Garsfontein farm).  Its name - Moreleta - was derived from the Moreletaspruit which snakes its way through the fairly undulating landscape of this suburb.

Both well-established and well-contained, Moreleta Park is known for its ease of living, serving as a perfect residential choice for most home seekers due to its exceptionally wide range of housing options to choose from.  Townhouse and cluster complexes, duets, apartments and flats are compact and secure while houses vary in size - smaller for the newly wed through to large family styled homes and ultimately luxury security estates.  Style varies between older and the latest in modern designs and architecture as development remains ongoing, especially along the outer parts of the suburb.  Choice is unlimited and with this Moreleta has become home to a varied blend of residential type, catering for rentals, first time home owners, families with school-going children (especially) as well as persons considering retirement. 

Without a doubt, it may be said that location is one of its greatest attributes, as Moreleta Park benefits greatly from its neighbouring suburbs - collectively offering unlimited access to schools, leading shopping centres, medical facilities, golf courses, entertainment, outdoor and adventure activities as well as all major access roads.  Neighbours include Mooikloof, Olympus, Garsfontein, Elardus Park and Erasmusrand.

CLIMATE:

Moreleta Park shares the subtropical climate which the eastern areas of Pretoria are so well-liked for.  This means warm to hot days and summer rainfalls during the months of September through to April with late afternoon showers being the norm. Winter comes with fairly cold mornings and most often turns into warm afternoons and cooler evenings again, however the coldest months are fairly short-lived.  The Bronberg mountain range offers a measure of protection against wind and frost, although Moreleta is slightly further removed from this ridge than the rest of its neighbours. 

MAIN ACCESS ROUTES:

Moreleta Park shares many of the same main access roads that its neighbours, such as Elardus Park, Garsfontein & Faerie Glen use.  To the west lies Solomon Mahlangu Drive which travels to both the N1 and N4 highways. Garsfontein Road runs along its northern border which leads to the N1 highway and toward town while Rubenstein and De Villebois Mareuil Drives both acting as major thoroughfares traveling through the heart of Moreleta Park, with both roads leading toward Delmas Road, located to the south. Travel to any of these access roads takes mere minutes, pending peak hour traffic times!
