Olympus A H at a glance

Olympus is one of the most recently developed modern-day suburbs within Pretoria East.  What, until recently, used to be smallholdings and plots surrounded by suburban developments such as Faerie Glen, Mooikloof and Wapadrand has fast become a hub of townhouse and estate developments added to the more established houses that were the start of Olympus.

Olympus lies against the southern foothill of the Bronberg Mountain, with a selection of larger and rather impressive looking homes located against the higher part of the slope. Descending downward into the suburb is a wide selection of middle to upper class styled houses while the newer extension, stretching all the way to Atterbury Road, offers a wide selection of modern townhouses, estates and complexes.  Just a short drive further east takes one through large plot areas and estates designed to maximise the surrounding rustic environment.  Eventually you will find yourself amongst the surprisingly beautiful, undeveloped and undulating natural landscapes of extended Pretoria East.   

Although superbly central to everything that makes Pretoria East one of the most sought-after suburbs in Pretoria, Olympus serves more as a homely suburb and has only a few "home-businesses" in its mix of properties.  In almost any direction it enjoys quick and easy access to any amenity that one would need, especially those offered by its neighbouring suburbs including Wapadrand (on the northern side of the Bronberg Mountain), Faerie Glen, Garsfontein, Mooikloof, Woodhill and Menlyn, further west when heading back toward the city of Pretoria. 

CLIMATE:

Pretoria East shares the subtropical climate which spreads itself throughout most of Tshwane.  This means warm to hot days and summer rainfalls during the months of September through to April.  Winter comes with fairly cold mornings which most of the time turns into warm afternoons and cooler evenings again.  The Bronberg mountain range offers a measure of protection against wind and frost and because of the elevation enjoys great water movement during rainy seasons as well as a full day's uninterrupted sun.

MAIN ACCESS ROUTES:

Olympus is bordered by Atterbury Road to the south and Solomon Mahlangu Drive to the west and then just a short drive to access Lynnwood Road.  Once on Solomon Maghlangu the N1 and N4 highways are just a few minutes' drive away while Pretoria CBD is accessible via either Atterbury or Lynnwood Roads.

• Via Solomon Mahlangu Dr / M10: 30 minutes / 23 kms
• Via Atterbury Rd: 33 minutes / 23 kms
• Via Atterbury Rd / M11 and Justice Mahomed St / M11: 31 minutes / 20 kms
