Waverley at a glance

Heading north east out of Pretoria, toward the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains, lies the pleasant and pretty little suburb of Waverley. It enjoys an elevated position against the southern slope of the mountain, which poses as the great divide between The Moot area and neighbouring Pretoria North, as one heads over the pass.

An older, well-established suburb, Waverley is home to mostly well-constructed traditional residences on large stands, but of course more recent developments have established smaller and modern styled options. These including townhouse complexes, simplexes, bachelor apartments, flats, cluster homes and houses, with property pricing to suit almost any price range. This combination of old and new - older home owners, younger families and even first-time homeowners - has created and an amazing amalgamation of people.

Waverley is superbly well-located to the bustling city of Pretoria and its surrounding attractions, but interestingly, it portrays the feel of a village with a life of its own where each of its streets displays a unique character with a plethora of treasure troves along the way. Waverley's neighbours include Villieria, Rietfontein and Gezina while just a short drive over the mountain leads to a selection of larger and, in places, equally well-established suburbs and a complete selection of all and any amenity that one may need. Amongst others, these suburbs include Montana, Magalieskruin and Sinoville.

CLIMATE:

With the Magaliesberg Mountain range as its backdrop, Waverley enjoys a full day's sunlight and a fair amount of protection. It shares in the sub-tropical climate as is prevalent throughout most of Tshwane which is particularly evident in summer when parts of Waverley look as if it is gently covered by a blanket of leafy greens.

Summer days warm up from early in the morning and can easily reach 30 degrees Celsius and up. Rain takes place during summer and fortunately Pretoria is often blessed with mid to late afternoon showers, breaking the heat and leading to warm but comfortable evenings. Winters can be quite cold during the early morning hours but generally warm up to be pleasantly comfortable for most of the day. On the odd occasion, when temperatures become unusually low, there may be frost.
